Join us for Pulmonary Rehabilitation Awareness Week from Monday 17 June – Friday 21 June and look further into how pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) can benefit patients with stable lung conditions.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services Accreditation Scheme (PRSAS) provides independent recognition that your service demonstrates a high level of quality, increasing the confidence that patients have in their PR programmes and assuring them that they will receive consistent high-quality care.
As part of our celebrations we have released a poster that has been co-produced with Asthma+Lung UK to explain pulmonary rehabilitation to patients. This links to the new resources recently developed by Asthma+Lung UK to support patients in keeping active with a lung condition.
The PRSAS standards draw their guidance from key stakeholders, including the British Thoracic Society (BTS) – the PRSAS team will be attending the BTS conference during PR awareness week on 20 and 21 June to talk about PR accreditation. We hope to see you there!
We have lots of exciting sessions during PR awareness week, as outlined below.
Monday 17 June, 11–12.30 pm
Engagement session: if you aren’t registered with PRSAS and are interested to learn more – this session provides more information on the programme; covering benefits, key stakeholder’s involvement and the resources and support available to your service.
Tuesday 18 June, 4–5pm
Workforce planning session: held by our clinical lead, Maria Buxton, this session will offer her perspective on maximising efficiencies with your existing workforce.
Wednesday 19 June, 2.30–3.30pm
Fireside discussion: held by our quality lead, Enya Daynes and guest speaker, Siobhan Hollier, this session will be discussing and sharing best practice.
We will be talking to one of our recently accredited services about PR, and they have also given us the opportunity to hear about accreditation directly from their patients who have completed a PR programme. In this piece we will looking into the perspective of a PR class from both sides, and we look forward to exploring this with Imperial College Healthcare PR Service and their patients!
Make sure you keep an eye out on X (formerly twitter), as we will be posting every day! Each day will focus on a different aspect of PR, including who is PR for, what to expect and what the benefits are to patients.
Follow us at @PRaccreditation and look out for #pulmrehabawarenessweek2024 to be a part of it!
